Job Overview
Edward Jones is seeking an exceptional senior leader to serve as Head of Learning (HOL). The HOL is responsible for leading the design and development of high-impact learning solutions and tools that enable the firm to deliver tailored financial guidance through trusted relationships and a high level of personal service. The HOL works with champions of learning across the organization to create a culture of learning that enables a team-based, high-performing organization.
The HOL ensures that enterprise-wide learning and solutions are aligned to close business and performance gaps, as well as improve the effectiveness of the organization and its ability to recruit and retain an engaged and high performing workforce motivated and skilled to make a meaningful difference in the lives of 7 million clients. What you’ll do:
- Position Edward Jones as a world-class learning organization that uses and establishes industry best practices to continuously improve associate competencies and skills in pursuit of providing human-centered complete wealth management to tens of millions of clients
- Define the direction of future learning, informed by a deep understanding of the current state of L&D programs and relevant premier practices being implemented at the firm
- Provide strong people leadership to integrate and align the learning functions across the firm and build a high performing team
- Provide strategic thought leadership in innovative, nimble, just-in-time learning solutions that enable associates to learn when and how they learn best
- Design and deliver extraordinary, engaging learning experiences ranging from core/flagship curriculum to discipline-specific programs
- Cultivate innovation, while maximizing efficiency by acting as a leader with vision on ground-breaking, scalable, and relevant learning industry trends centered on learning impact and accessibility
- Forge relationships with key learning partners, including, but not limited to colleges, governmental sources, and learning solutions providers
- Lead core firm learning experiences, including delivery, implementation, and ongoing evaluation ensuring program quality, business impact and associate experience
- Keep pace with both business and functional knowledge and apply this effectively in the learning design process

What you’ll need:
- Bachelor’s degree required – in Human Resources preferred (advanced degree in relevant area preferred).
- Learning and Development Leadership: Minimum of 15 years’ experience in functional and high-performing team/people leadership, preferably inclusive of instructional design, adult learning theory, needs assessment, digital learning, learning measurement and coaching
- Business Acumen: Strong business insight, with the ability to credibly make a business case, by linking current and anticipated business challenges with learning and development solutions
- Team Accountability: Experience working cross-culturally and leveraging diverse perspectives and geographies; attracts, develops and retains a diverse and capable workforce to meeting current and future business needs
- Oral and Written Communication: Ability to express oneself to provide information to others effectively, recognizing that communication is more than just language – it includes tone, style and structure; proven record of communicating and processing complex and sensitive information in both verbal and written formats
