Expect multiple hiring stages
A successful applicant can expect to go through a number of the following steps in the hiring process. The Edward Jones Talent Acquisition team evaluates applicants at each stage to determine whether they qualify to continue in the process. Most of this evaluation process occurs via telephone.
Complete the application
To initiate the hiring process, an application must be completed. Due to industry regulations and our own strict selection criteria, our application requests a great deal of personal information. Please complete it fully. Your application is a confidential document to be viewed internally only by people directly responsible for Edward Jones' recruitment efforts.
Once we receive your completed application, it will be reviewed and determined whether or not you will proceed to the next stage. Our hiring process is extremely selective. On average, 7% of those who apply are hired as Financial Advisors. If you're selected to move forward, you'll be contacted to set up a phone screen/interview with a member of our Talent Acquisition team.
You'll spend time with a Financial Advisor
Following the phone screen/interview, applicants who haven't had the opportunity to visit with a local Edward Jones Financial Advisor at a branch office will be asked to complete this step prior to moving forward in the hiring process. The office visit is an opportunity for the applicant to experience the branch environment and ask a successful financial Advisor about his or her experience. Next, our Talent Acquisition team will complete a job- sampling activity to determine whether you qualify to move on to the next stage.
Once hired, training classes begin
After that, you'll complete a face-to-face interview with a Talent Acquisition team member, who is an experienced Financial Advisor. Or, for candidates in the Greater Toronto Area, you'll be interviewed by a hiring specialist at our Home Office. After this interview, we'll review all information gathered on your behalf, including the results of an industry-mandated background check. Should an offer of employment be extended to you, it will be contingent on successful completion of the CSC Exam. At that point, a Talent Acquisition team member will contact you to inform you of the available training class start dates.
